Jeff McGukin joined the Midway
staff in January of 2007 as Education Pastor. He came to
Midway after serving churches in Alabama, Texas, Florida and
Georgia, in ministry positions including music, education,
administration, and in earlier years, children, youth, and
recreation. These varied areas of ministry have prepared
him for his position at Midway, overseeing education
ministries of all ages from preschool through senior adults.
Jeff was born in Texas, but
considers Birmingham, Alabama his home. He is a graduate of
Samford University with a Bachelors Degree in Church Music
and Church Recreation, and Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary with a Masters Degree in Religious Education.
Jeff’s passion is reaching the unchurched and discipling and
equipping others for ministry. He particularly enjoys
helping smaller churches through consulting with the Georgia
Baptist Convention (church facilities) and North American
Mission Board (leadership). When he can squeeze in time,
Jeff loves to fish (when his boat is not full of Donna’s
garage-sale finds), play golf, and coach basketball.
Jeff and
his wife, Donna, have hung out together since seventh
grade. Married in 1978, they have three sons and one golden
doodle. Their oldest son, John, and his wife, Natalie, live
in Texas, where John attends Dallas Theological Seminary.
Their other two sons, Jared and Joel, join them at Midway.
Jared loves graphic arts and is working toward a diploma in
web design. Joel spends his free time wilderness
backpacking, spelunking, rock climbing, and any other
activity that gets him out of studying. |
